What is special about Ultimate Champions Basketball Camps compared to other San Antonio Youth basketball camps?

Ultimate Champions Basketball Camps are recognized as one of the best sports training systems in San Antonio. The camps utilize training and coaching techniques developed for players from all ages. In short, the kids who attend our camps learn more and become better players.

Who are these camps for?

San Antonio boys and girls ages 8-17 who like playing basketball, who want to play on school or community youth basketball teams.

What will my child learn or gain from attending this basketball camp?

The children develop an understanding of how to become an unstoppable player on the court. This translates to an enhanced sense of self-confidence and “unstoppability” in life. They will learn by practicing specifically designed drills and techniques in an intensive, but fun, basketball setting.

What do the kids need to bring to basketball camp?

Your child will need to bring a clean, regulation-size, fully-inflated basketball. They will also need proper basketball shoes and apparel. Shorts and t-shirts are appropriate. You will want to provide them with a light snack and a full spill-proof water bottle. (There are no refrigerators available, so pack accordingly.) The most important thing the kids need to bring is a good attitude and a willingness to work hard and to learn

How will my child be grouped?

Each child is evaluated. First they are placed by age and after an extensive evaluation, they are group by skill level.

Do the boys and girls practice and play together?

Yes. We believe that boys and girls should play together ( with the same skill level). In the real world, men and women work together and expected to perform the same task.

What is the player coach ratio?

The maximum basketball player coach ratio is 10-1.

What is the benefit in returning to camp again and again?

Students benefit greatly from additional sessions of Ultimate Champions Basketball Camps. On each return trip to camp, students work on mastering the lessons from previous sessions. This strengthens the “muscle memory” started in the initial camp. Additionally, as students progress, the learn higher level skills. Many of our campers have attended 3, 4, or more sessions with us.

Does Ultimate Champions Basketball Camps utilize the same drills at every camp?

Yes. The fundamental drills remain the same for all skill levels. As players progress in abilities, they are given higher level drills and ball-handling moves to practice and work on.

Can my child miss a day or half-day during a camp? Will this put them behind?

It is not uncommon for kids to occasionally miss a day or have to leave early or arrive late on some days due to various reasons. We realize that family schedules require flexibility. If they miss instructions for a new drill or ball-handling move, we will ensure they get time with a camp counselor to bring them back up to speed.

My child is between 5-7 years old. Will this camp be too intense or hard for them?

It may be. Our camps are a lot of work. This particular age group can only attend camp in the morning half of the camp. There are limited camps for players in that age group

Will my child be safe at Ultimate Champions Basketball Camps?

Absolutely! Safety is our number one priority. Coach Jones has been running successful San Antonio Youth basketball camps for over 10 years, we have never had a child who has been seriously hurt. We are proud of this record. Ultimate Champions Basketball Camps has very strict rules. For example:

  • Campers are not allowed out of the gym, except to use the restroom.
  • All campers using the restroom must go with another camper as a “buddy”.
  • All basketball counselors have been thoroughly trained to never be in a compromising situation with campers.

When talking with campers about personal issues, we always have two counselors present. Counselors are never to leave the gym with a camper.
